Support at Home (SaH)
Formerly Home Care Package (HCP)
Able Foods makes it simple to enjoy tasty, healthy meals delivered to your home, with funding available through the new Support at Home program.
If you already had a Home Care Package, your funding will have automatically moved across to the new Support at Home model from 1 Nov 2025. That means you can continue enjoying the same great meals, service and value you know from Able Foods with no interruption.
What’s changing?
From 1 Nov 2025, the Australian Government’s Support at Home program replaced Home Care Packages.
The new system brings together meal preparation, delivery, and other home support services under one simple funding model — designed to make life easier for older Australians.
If you were receiving HCP meals, you don’t need to do anything. Your Able Foods service will continue as usual.

Support at Home (SaH) FAQs
Can I still access meals through my Home Care Package?
If you already had a Home Care Package, your funding will have automatically moved across to the new Support at Home model.
That means that if you were receiving meals through your HCP, you don’t need to do anything. Your Able Foods service will continue as usual.
Do I pay anything out of pocket?
Yes, you only have to pay a small out-of-pocket fee for the cost of ingredients:
- Breakfast: $1.80
- Small lunches, soups & sandwiches: $1.00 – $2.00
- Smoothies & juices: $0.70 – $1.50
- Main meal: $2.00-$3.50
- Extras: $0.50-$1.00
- Desserts: $0.70 – $1.00
The cost of meal preparation and delivery is subsidised through the NDIS or Support at Home (formerly Home Care Package).
I’m new to SaH. Can I access your meals?
Follow these steps to access our meals through Support at Home (SaH, formerly Home Care Package):
1. Check if we deliver to your postcode here.
2. Fill in the Get Started form or call us on 1300 123 225 to provide your details over the phone.
3. Once we have your information on file, we will need to email your Care Coordinator to confirm funding with them. Once we have written confirmation we will give you a call to finalise your account!
Please note that in order for us to confirm funding with your Care Partner , we need to make sure we have an active contract with your SaH provider. To check if we currently have one in place, please visit our Support at Home page. If not, get in touch and we will endeavour to set one up for you!
I am with My Aged Care but not SaH, can I access your meals?
If you are with My Aged Care but don’t have Support at Home (SAH, formerly Home Care Package), you can still access our meals. However, they will be charged at the full price.
We are not a My Aged Care registered provider, so our meals are not subsidised. If you have Support at Home, you can utilise your funding to cover the meal preparation and delivery part of the cost.
I have SaH but my provider isn’t on your list. Can I access your services?
Able Foods has a list of Home Care Package providers that we currently work with. If your provider is not currently on our list, you can inform your provider that you’d like to access our meals.
To do this, ask your provider to reach out to us via email at contracts@ablefoods.com.au. We will then be happy to make arrangements with them directly. Once an agreement is in place, you should be able to access our meals through Support at Home.
What are the benefits of having Able Foods as your meal preparation and delivery service provider?
At Able Foods, we are NDIS and Aged Care specialists who understand your needs. We know the ins and outs of Support at Home (SAH, formerly Home Care Package) processes, and this informs every decision we make— from menu planning to invoicing.
Our menu of 80+ ready made meals takes the guesswork out of healthy eating. We offer chef-prepared and dietitian-designed meals that follow our Magic 8 Nutrition Guidelines. That means that every meal delivered to your home is healthy, convenient, and downright delicious. So you can just relax and dig in!
Of course, we understand that different people have different requirements and preferences. If you’re still unsure, reach out to our friendly Client Engagement team. Call us on 1800 315 187, email welcome@ablefoods.com.au, or send us a message via our online form. Our team is always happy to answer your questions.
My Aged Care gave me a referral code to use for meals. Can I use it with Able Foods?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept My Aged Care referral codes, as we are not My Aged Care registered and do not receive subsidies from the government.
I have Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) funding. Can I access your meals?
If you are on the CHSP but not on Support at Home (SAH, formerly Home Care Package), you can still access our meals but they will be charged at full price.
CHSP providers receive funding from the Australian Government, which they use to provide subsidised services. We are not a CHSP provider, so our meals are not subsidised.
I self-manage my SaH funding, how do invoices work?
At the moment, we invoice the Support at Home (SAH, formerly Home Care Package) portion to your Support at Home provider, so we need their confirmation that sufficient funds are available.
If you prefer, you can pay the total cost upfront. In this case, you will receive two invoices (one for the SaH portion, the other for the co-payment portion) and then claim back from your SaH provider.
